Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence Our mission at St. Francis Hospital is to offer the most advanced medical interventions in a compassionate environment. St. Francis Hospital was named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery in January 2007.
Bariatric Surgery is recognized by the National Institute of Health as an effective alternative for severe obesity and life-threatening conditions such as diabetes, asthma, sleep apnea, hypertension and coronary artery disease. While complications are possible with any surgery, the rate of complications at Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence is extremely low, less than one percent.
